Michael Kalichman, Ph.D.

Kalichman, trained in engineering and neuropharmacology, has taught research ethics since 1990. He is founding director of the UC San Diego Research Ethics Program (1997) and ethics service for the NIH CTSA-funded Clinical and Translational Research Institute (2010), and co-founding director for the Center for Ethics in Science and Technology (2004). He has taught train-the-trainer, research ethics workshops throughout the U.S. and in Central and South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia, and has helped to create an Asia Pacific Research Integrity Network. He leads NIH- and NSF-funded research on the goals, content, and methods for teaching research ethics.
