Ethics Assessment Workgroup
Goals:
The long-term goals of the Ethics Assessment Workgroup are to: (1) assess needs and opportunities at UCSD, (2) seek out and adopt the best and most cost-effective practices; and (3) assess outcomes to inform evidence-based decisions about what should and should not be continued.
Rationale:
The rationale for an institutional approach to ethics is based on three key principles:
- The successes of each faculty or staff member, of each student, and of the institution, all depend directly on the judgments and conduct of all of the members of the community;
- The behaviors and ethical decisions of some have great impact on the behaviors and ethical decisions of others (e.g., faculty behaviors in the classroom greatly impact student behaviors); and
- Roles and responsibilities are not mutually exclusive (e.g., some students, staff, and faculty are researchers; and faculty have significant roles in education, administration, and creative scholarship).

- Tricia Bertram Gallant, Academic Integrity Coordinator
