This page lists past options for meeting ethics training requirements and the number of hours devoted to stem cell ethics (when known) for the San Diego Research Ethics Consortium. See a list of current education options.

1. Initial Training

Past options for meeting this requirement are:

General Options:

  • Past individual meetings (scheduled with the approval of the institutional E/SCRO Committee)
  • Any other equivalent past experience (with the approval of the institutional E/SCRO Committee)

2. First Year Continuing Education

Past options for meeting this requirement and the number of hours devoted to stem cell ethics (when known) are:

General Options:

The stem cell ethics components of past stem cell research conferences

  • Past individual meetings (scheduled with the approval of the institutional E/SCRO Committee)
  • Any other equivalent past experience (with the approval of the institutional E/SCRO Committee)

Specific Options:

  • Any of the past stem cell-related ethics sessions of the UC San Diego Research Ethics Program Seminar Series:
    • Biomedical Ethics Seminar Series (2 hrs)
    • Tough Cases Seminar Series (1.5 hrs)
    • Research Ethics Journal Club (1.5 hrs)

3. Subsequent Year Continuing Education

Past options for meeting this requirement are:

  • Any of the options listed for the "first year requirement"
  • The Ethics in Scientific Research course (PHAR 219) (each Spring)
  • Summer Research Ethics Workshop for UC San Diego medical students (each Summer)
