Topic: Unsuited Scientists? Student Field Research in the Absence of Faculty Supervision
Presenter: Amy McDaniel, San Diego State University
Location: SDSU Foundation: Sky Park
Discussion: Is a stack of suggested readings, a few relevant courses on methodology, and perhaps even some supervised practice sessions enough to qualify graduate and doctoral students to conduct research in the field without faculty supervision? Join a discussion of the current culture of faculty supervision of student research and its ethical implications for the subject of the research, the community/environment, and the student.
Readings: Note: Links to the readings above are accessible to only San Diego State University faculty, staff, and students. You can request a copyright-protected copy directly from Rashuanda, <rhenson@mail.sdsu.edu>.
